Wishes for 2010

So, it is New Year's Eve and I am sitting there thinking about this past year.  It was a very hard year on many of those very close to me- we have dealt with deaths, with injury and illness, with finacial losses, and with private struggles.  But as I look back on this year, it is still one that I will cherish.  I will cherish it and hold it close, because, despite these losses and challenges, we have pulled together and risen up to the challenge.  We have leaned on each other to help us stand through the deaths of those close to us.  And it is these people I love, I cherish, and I wish best wishes to in the new year.  I feel it, 2010 will be a year of triumphs, of joys, of gifts beyond measure!  There will be babies for some (I am so excited for those of you expecting), weddings for others (yay- I cannot wait to see you guys walk down the aisles!), new jobs, new adventures, new opportunities....and through it all, we will get to share the joys and sorrows with those around us!  I cannot wait!

To all- may 2010 bless you with  hope, joy, and most of all love!  May your hearts be full and may your cups run over!  Much Love- Jess

So, I am totally loving looking at the wedding stuff- invites, dresses, bridesmaid dresses, venues, menus, you name it, I am into it!  It makes me sound crazy, but I love the whole planning and picking out things, and just looking at it all is so fun.  I loved doing it for the house- so much so, that I had everything planned out by last March!  I just love that stuff.

I keep looking at the fun little details- invitations and centerpieces are my big thing right now- they are fun to plan.  You get to pick styles, colors, and how you will make them all work together.  I could do this forever!  Ahh, the bliss of planning!

Who... What... When... Where?

So, I have been thinking about the whole wedding thing, and the whole who, where, when thing is a BIG THING in the wedding world.  Jason & I have been thinking about it and we both agree we don't want a really big wedding.  We want a small, intimimate, fun-filled affair...but...I started putting down names, and of family and a very few close friends, we have already hit 50 people.  And that is with kids being excluded- other than Aaron & Ethan, of course!  And the more I think about, the more I go back and forth on the whole kiddos thing....I mean, who wants to party with little kiddos running around?  And their parents then are stuck trying to care for them and miss out on the good times.  But, since most people are coming in from out of town, who will care for the kids?  I don't expect my family from out of state to leave their kids behind for the weekend...and that is just the practical side.  Then, there is the whole, what about babies crying, and kids spilling or making messes of themselves, or worse yet, all the nice clothes everyone has on...the list goes on.  Any ideas from anyone out there?

I also have been thinking about the whole what/where alot- I like the idea of the mountains and doing a semi-formal event.  I want everyone to look nice- no jeans, and no baseball caps, and no shorts, and all that.  I just think it feels more fun and more special when everyone gets dressed up.  I want the whole classic elegance feel to the whole wedding.

And I am thinking of summer time near Durango- and how it is nice and warm, not hot, during the day, and cools down nicely to a refreshing evening, and I think it would be so delightful.  So, I am thinking that a summer wedding in the mountains may be it for us...

I mean, doesn't this look like bliss....

Or this one...

And I love the lush green, and the flowers and the mountains...

It is like getting married on the edge of Heaven

I am definitely thinking the mountains in the summer...now to decide specifically where and how many, and all those other choices!! Check back in for more updates!

Yes, it is true and it is finally happening!  We are engaged!  Yay!!  Anyways, I thought since we aren't getting married until 2011, maybe it might be fun to blog about the house, the wedding planning, and our everyday life in the process...so here is my attempt at a blog!
