They Started Construction!!!

So, it is official- they have started construction…well, I guess, it is more clearing and digging, and not actual building yet, but the point is, the house project is actually really and truly underway!! Yay!!
So, here is a pic of the progress as of Wednesday…

Sorry it is not very high quality- I took it with my blackberry and it was starting to get dark.  But I will update soon with more & better pics!

A Little Bit Different!

So, since there is a whole lot going on in our lives, I went ahead and updated the idea of the blog...it is going to be what is happening in our lives- the wedding, the house construction, the move, the whole shebang!!  So, I changed the IP address, and as things change in our life, the title may change (i.e- when we get married, it might change to "Jess & Jason ARE Married", etc.).  But anyways, I wanted to be able to keep you all in the loop, so check back often and see what is new in our lives out here!  Love you all!!

Everything is A-changin'!!

So, we have decided that if we go with a tropical location, our colors, and pretty much everything else, will more than likely change.  We are thinking now that we may go with a black, white, and blue scheme.  Although, the black, white and wine colors are still an option.  Alot of it will probably depend on what we decide to do flower wise.  Tropical flowers are so very pretty, and we both love the orange lilies, and bright pink flowers, but I also love white lilies, orchids, and most white flowers all together.  So, if we pick calla lilies, and go with a white color, we can choose which colors we want...but if we choose the orange lilies, then we have to make sure and match them...ahhh, the choices....

So here are some of the gorgeous flower options....

See why it is so hard to choose a color scheme??  Which flowers do you choose?  They are all so pretty... and here is a glimpse of what I hope it will look like when we get married...

Our Little Piece of Paradise

So, it is looking more and more like we are going to be heading for the beach when we get married!!  I found a most gorgeous place- it is a resort in the Turks & Caicos and it is so pretty!!  The beaches there are just breathtaking- what an awesome place to get married at.  I am very excited about it.

We are also thinking we will have a big party back stateside once we come home.  I even think it might be fun to have a really big 1st anniversary party instead of a psuedo-reception, but I imagine we will do more of a psuedo-reception.

So, anyways, here are a couple pics of the beaches from the T&C...

We are gonna get married...in paradise!!  I can't wait!

Maybe On The Beach Instead?

So, we have been thinking and talking about it all alot, and we are leaning right now towards having a gettaway beach wedding instead of the events we were thinking about before.  Being that we know alot of people around town, but that we are not very close to most of them, we are thinking it might be nice to get away and include just our families.  Then, after we return, we can have some parties to celebrate our nuptials with friends and others.  We are not decided on anything yet, and the beauty of planning and deciding these things so far in advance is it gives us a great deal of flexibility to figure out exactly what it is that we want most.  So, we will see what we can figure out about it all for now, and see what moves us over the next few days, and then start making some decisions.  Maybe passports, suntan lotion, and tropical floral breezes will be in out future!!  Here is a glimpse of what it may be like!!

We have a website!!

So, we have a wedding website now!  I just got done starting one on http://www.mywedding.com/- it is really neat, because unlike on some other sites I looked at, it lets you totally customize content, INCLUDING MUSIC, and it never expires!  Plus, it has teamed up with some invitation companies online and you can actually make a website using your inviation style.  Not all the styles are available, but I thought that was a neat touch.  So, once we pick our inviations, we can make our website match it.

Anyways, if you want to check out our wedding website, please click here.  I am going to do most of my blogging and updating here on my blog, but all the official wedding related info will be on the website as it is decided and finalized.  I will also be uploading pictures, music, and fun information on Jason and my stories on the website.

Love you all lots and I hope today is a great day for you!

Let There Be Colors!

SO, we have our wedding colors picked out.  We are going to use black, white, and burgundy.  I think these colors will go together very nicely, and it will be colors that reflect Jason and I.  We both love black, and I have always liked the combination of black and white.  My dishes are black and white, my little notes I pick out are always black and white, and I feel there is just something classically elegant about black and white together.  And the wine colored burgundy is one of Jason's favorites.  I have always thought it was very pretty as well.  I am looking forward to hunting for all the pretty flowers and combinations of flowers that will go well together within our color scheme.  And Eileen has graciously offered to help look, so she can help hunt it all down!!

I have always been a big fan of peonies.  I love their fullness and their uniqueness.  Unfortunately, they are typically only available in the spring (bummer for a summer wedding!) and you must pay to import them, perhaps lending itself to the uniqueness of the flower.  I started asking about the availability of peonies during the summer, and I found out that unfortunately, if you do find them, they often are not as pretty as during the spring.  Alas, all is not lost....did you know there are several varieties of ROSES that closely mimic the peony?  I recently came across a few varieties, and I think I have found some bouquet inspiration....but first, can you pick out the peonies?

Is it Option 1-

Or Option 2?

So, I think they look pretty silimiar myself...but the roses are option 1, and the peonies are option 2.  So, I am thrilled that they appear so similar and I can look into these an another option for the bouquet.
